Club Meeting 1160 Jan 2008, Graham MMG TC Owners Club Newsletter from Meetings 1160 - 10th January , 2008 (Produced by Graham Mackie) Meeting 1160, held in 'them tha' hills' at the Morris’ranch was a pretty exciting affair by all accounts. Regrettably I was still in the air on a flight back from Sydney, so this story will be short, imaginative but hopefully informative. Attendance Something like 40 attended and highlights were a Birthday Cake and a melodic Happy Birthday rendition to celebrate the Pav. TC, which had a birthday 5 days previously on 5th January. Another celebration was the christening of Pav's new garage(s) comprising a 9m by 4m and a 6m by 4m garage combination, built at right angles to one another, with brand new carpet rolled out on the night(???). Champagne was flowing and I'm sad I missed the festivities. Pav. had 3 pedal cars on display and has four being made and orders for 5. They suit rev- heads from 4 to 10 years and are in either Bugatti shape or square enders. The Bugatti's are proving popular and a selling for around $220 each. Get in before the orders hit and you miss out. Gossip has it that Paul G. has bought John H's TC. Great news for both parties to the transaction. I guess the number plate will change. Early Morning Run is on this Sunday 13th starting at Crawley Bay (near the Fish Van) and will end up somwhere nice for brekky. Next OFL is 4th February at the Vernon Arms Tavern. Host is the newly financial John H. Drive-In at Goolelal is a 7.30pm start on 19th January. Boyanup Car Classic is scheduled for 9th February in conjunction with Food and Wine Festival. Club Register Birthdays 10th Jan to 23rd Jan ‘08 Informal Meeting In case you are wondering, a pleasant gathering was held at the Mackie residence in Bicton. The weather conditions were superb with a light sea breeze wafting across the deck We didn't adjourn to the International Water Polo Championships but heard the whistle from time to time. Attendees were Kevin McM and friend Carol,. the Prior's., Mike S., Peter G., the Rose's, Ralph K., Chris K. and yours truly. Ralph K. brought along a DVD he'd received that day from London of the London Brighton Rally and we watched it with great interest. Many incredible vehicles were featured along with the drivers, crew (many pushing up the hills) on a sunny but cold day. Brighton looked great and I suspect brilliant for those that made it to the finish. If you are contemplating doing a Ralph or joining him, have a geccko at his DVD. Mike S. brought along some interesting Video clips from events in the early Club years but we ran out of time , so maybe at a meeting soon. Next Meeting 1161 - 24/1/08 will be hosted at Chris and Judy B, Thornlie Return to Tech Talk |
