 Meeting 1205 – 15th  October, 2009

The Pyle duo saw a return visit after the Douglas DVD show only a short time ago and its always an interesting workshop visit and so tidy.  Horn, whistle and 'okey dokey' got the show on the road.

Visitors Nil,  but a good roll up of over 35 members I thought.

Business Arising.

OFL on Monday 5th  at the Red Cray saw 10 turn up to a great venue said Graham M. Excellent food and keen prices. A private room with a view down to the Swan River. Darryl said it was the best steak he'd tasted in a long time. The room could hold up to 25 and there is an adjoining balcony. Central to all members – highly recommended. Len B forgot the plaque and as a result ended up with the job for the next gathering. Hope he gives it a return visit.

Matters Arising

All British Day at Waroona. Starts 9am but we are going to aim for 9.30am at Pinjarra Bakery and 10am arrival. Celebrating the 50th year of the Mini. JB will save 6-8 spaces and has arranged to get a key to Foyle's Museum

Safety Fast Run same weekend (23-25 October) but heading north and east. Toodyay mentioned. Plates issued, paperwork done . Many thanks to Brian W for his efforts.

Y Type Spring Run 18th October. Forecast is fine. No dirt roads. Split speeds Y's can depart ahead of TC's. Meet Manning Park, Cockburn 8.45 for a 9.30 departure. 3 hour run to Dawesville.  Lunch and BYO at Leprechaun Tearooms

Langley Park Fly-in. Saturday 7th November  Calling all MG's. 15 Aircraft flying in and we can join them on the park. Meet Denise at Causeway Carpark 9.30. Enter single file, park facing trees. Lunch 12.00 BYO. Denise  0408 908 747.

In memory of Nancy Walton. Helicopters, Parachutes, Vintage Cars, Camp Quality to benefit from the event I thought Clark said.

600 Meetings. John L. congratulated. Much applause.

Beechworth. Mike S. said it was just as good as two years ago. Lots of prewar 'F' Types . Well run – good format. Saturday display then a run and another run on Sunday to top of Mt. Buffalo. H, F and S Types all got to the top in the snow. One TC damaged by a Ranger backing into it.. Big Dinner Sunday night.

Mike asked them if any interest in coming to WA and Collie for an event October, 2011 and there was lots of enthusiasm. His ideas are nog'n natter Friday night, Concours Saturday, Tour S/W Sunday. Agreement requested – all unanimous. Bob and Lyn Douglas show was a highlight. Mike got them a ride in a TF. Mike also went to an Historic and Vintage shop in Melbourne (Vince is making beautiful bodies from scratch) and to Antique Tyres  Also to Ballarat where a guy is making stub axles and another chap Wheel Bearing Carriers ($275-displayed). Harry says Collie can handle it. Accommodation good, 'skimpies', track all trumps. Badge but no trophies. We to stump it but will recover costs. Brian W. thought $3k to $5k needed. No problems says Col D.

Xmas Party 12 December will be $25/head.

Natmeet Adelaide – looking like 16 cars

50th Birthday event at Point Walter. Further thinking needed and an inspection.

General Business.

Pres JB got his TC back yesterday – Painted green by Patrick and very happy.

Chris B. bought wife half-price breakfast and was accosted by old gentleman Barry Ranford. Once had a TB. Great speedcar entrant – had a Morgan also. Decided to invite him along to reminisce. Chris seeking a 'Worker's Card' ??

Films. JB whizzing thru them – can't recognise many due to hair styles, colours.

Auction.and Toodyay David R. said a K3 Magnette went for a new record price of $433,000. Did a run to Toodyay and met the Toodyay restorer fellow. Heaps of cars being restored and we are invited to a weekend visit.

Instruments. John L. found George of Tandy Instruments in Cambridge Street and had Speedo repaired. Now rock steady – the flickering gone.

Tony C's TC now back on road sans blower. Has used Head Gasket four times. Selling Penrite 140 oil and interested in value of a Wolseley 444 engine.  $1100???.

MGB Collages from Worcester UK. Graham M. showed one he is selling for $100 and has a Keybox MGB for $130. MGTD blank greeting card  also shown.

 

Next Meeting is at the Waroona retreat  29th October.

Turn off new Freeway and head south to Hall Road and then Bowles Road.

 If you hit Waroona you missed the turnoff. Stop and try again.

BYO BBQ. BYO glasses, seats, swags, sleeping bags. One bed still available.

The trip is regarded as 'Adventure before Dementia' says JB.

 

Regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or economic status we all think we are above average drivers.
