Club Meeting 1199 July 2009, Graham M

MG TC Owners Club Newsletter

 Meeting 1199 - 23rd July, 2009

(Produced by Graham Mackie)

Mike & Susan Lee saved a lot of trips to Gidgegannup for this meeting, electing instead to hold it at the Cannington Bowling Club. They tell me its colder in 'them tha' hills' and it prompted the move for the benefit of our less hardy MG souls. Great move says me who would have been lost like the hiker in the Blue Mountains if I had headed into the bush and prefers his seeds from Kellogs, Sanitarium or Dick Smith.

1000th Meeting for President John

It also saved a kilometre or two for Pres.JB  who travelled from Waroona to celebrate his 1000th meeting. His reward he said was that he was 'going to have three meetings off' with an overseas trip to Switzerland and Scotland, departing 5th August, and returning 16th September. It will be a working holiday as well for JB, as he will be delivering parts to Switzerland to the neighbour of a couple that stayed in Waroona with he and Joyce for 3 or 4 days a little while back. The Swiss couple are reciprocating the favour.

They then meet up with the Partridges to do a 'mail run' boat trip from Oslo through the Fiords.

Next set down is Scotland to Joyce's stamping ground around Perthshire district. They will have a car and will hopefully be able to call on good friends of mine in Banchory, near Aberdeen or visit Blair Castle and see where Graham of Claverhouse (one of my forebears I've been told) met his death at the Battle of Killiecrankie.

JB didn't join till 1964 so he calculates he has only missed say 100 meetings   and I dare not even try to calculate the mileage he has racked up.

Visitors were scarce as none showed their hand.

Apologies were also scarce with just Ivan and Peter P. (for the next 6 weeks)

Minutes of Meeting 1198 which didn't get a newsletter, because they all turned up a week late, showed there was lots of items raised. The meeting started at 6.15pm with Mrs. Prior Senior in attendance, the Swapmeet was successful with a great sausage sizzle – thanks to Colin and Noelene, there was mention of Ted Stokes, Andrew Rostron, Peter Boreham and Noelene D. having Car Birthdays  Martin Swann's car nearly ready for inspection, badges available @ $8 from Darryl, Natmeet Bulletin 2 available, we got a 3rd place at the Quiz Night, TC  drawing on new shirts looks like a TD on some male bodies, TC Car badge for a US resident discussed. Port Bottling-96 bottles filled. 30 brought back for sale. Plenty to eat. Gymkhana won by Steve Pinch. There were 5 TC's, 1 TD, 1 MGA.

Old Farts Lunch held at Port Kennedy attracted ten starters.

Meeting closed 7.20pm

Next Old Farts Lunch will be held at Z's cafe in Woodland's. There is  some confusion with the thingo bag in one house and the table thingo in another. It is hoped that they will meet and reconcile soon.

Matters Arising.

Sale of badges will give a surplus of around $50. Orders still being taken if you missed out.

Meetings. Barry P. made the point that he had not been aware that he had been given the next meeting and said it was unsuited as it would be out in the carport and cold. Asked if anyone wanted to swap for one in October. Ralph King offered to host the next meeting.

Darryl is preparing a new calendar to reflect all of the changes.
